Cable television service provider Wire and Wireless (India) Ltd will be offering a number of channels in the first phase of digitisation. They will be offered in the company's three lucrative markets of Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai, under the SITI Cable brand name.

The company said that SITI Cable will provide an advanced IP-based digital delivery platform that will transmit superior quality TV signal to subscribers.

It will also offer 400 Standard Definition channels. It will offer 30 HD channels and TV signals with uninterrupted transmission. The subscriber needs to install a SITI digital set-top box (STB) with their TV sets to receive these TV signals.

With about three months to go for first phase of digitisation of cable television networks in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata, the company said it has made arrangements to deploy three million set-top boxes in these three cities.

STBs are being procured from multiple vendors to ensure smooth supply to the subscribers, the company said. The STB deployment to the subscribers has started in Delhi and Kolkata.
