Integrated design consultancy and architectural services provider, Space Matrix, is set to expand its India operations, as it begins to provide cost and green consultancy services through two new divisions — Q-Sigma and SEED.

The company continues to follow its global business into India through multinational corporations setting up their base in India, even as it taps new segments including healthcare, hospitality and education.

The Managing Director of Singapore-based Space Matrix, Mr Anurag Srivastava, told Business Line that the company, with revenues of Rs 350 crore and 500 people across seven locations in India, Singapore, Thailand and Australia, plans to double this number.

“Apart from internal growth, we are close to buying out couple of design and architectural services providers, with certain areas of specialisation such as hospitality. We expect to close this within 45 days,” he said.

Mr Srivastava said “offshore design consultancy is a rapidly growing market. Most companies in countries in the South-East Asia and Africa are comfortable interacting with design houses based in India rather than those in the western world. Therefore, we are in the process of expanding operations. But the challenge is to find right people, which is not easy.”

The company's clients include Nokia, Volvo, Deutsche Bank, Dell JP Morgan Chase, HP, SAP, GE, Suzlon and Axis Bank. In Hyderabad, we have worked with Wells Fargo, Facebook UBS, Novartis, Deloitte and Synopsis among others. Each time they, we work along with them, he said.

“Lately, there concern about costs associated with management of work spaces. For instance, if someone has say about 1000 sq.ft in Nariman Point, he would like perfect design which helps optimal use of space. That is where we fit in as cost consultant. Likewise, most buildings take pride in making them environment friendly. They need expert guidance to ensure that they use the right materials. The SEED helps address these issues,” he said.
