Satarem AG of Switzerland has partnered with SA India to foray into the alternate and renewable energy market in the country.
SA India is the erstwhile promoter of the Crocodile brand in India.
The JV will enable both Satarem AG and SA India to create and develop the wind and waste-to-energy market, and expand into Bangladesh and Maldives' markets in the near future.
Wind power system
Satarem India has launched a wind power system called ‘Windsat' based on aerodynamic Venturi flow principle.
The Windsat system, which is different from the traditional three-blade wind turbine, could be installed atop high rise buildings, business malls and small industrial centres.
The product offered lower noise, increased power production and flexibility and can be connected to the existing power grids, said Mr Venkatesh Sivaraman, Managing Director, Satarem India, adding that the energy produced from Windsat is cheaper by at least 30 per cent, compared to the cost involved in traditional windmills and generators that use diesel.
Mr Jerome Friler, Chairman, Satarem AG said that the company is planning to invest $ 900 million in the Indian renewable energy sector over the next five years.
