Tata Steel has signed a three-way MoU with the Indian Institute of Metals and Veltech Technical University of Chennai for a post-graduate diploma course in iron and steel making. Jamshedpur Human Resource Development Centre will impart the course in association with Veltech. A Tata Steel note said the proposed three-year course is to begin from July.
“Active involvement of Tata Steel, such as conditional placement of the successful candidates at the officer level, will provide credibility to the initiative as well as ensure valuable return over investment,” the company note said. Tata Steel has planned to absorb all successful students of the first batch. In the subsequent years, the company might pick up the top 15. For the first five years, batches consisting of 30 students would be trained under the course.
