Bangkok-based TOA Paint (Thailand) Company Ltd has launched its operations in Kerala.

The company has opened an office here and is planning to expand operations to central and southern districts of the State in the coming days.

Mr Brijesh Menon, Country Head of TOA Group, said the company had conducted tests at various parts of Kerala to check the adaptability of the products and found that they were suited to the climatic conditions of the State. TOA Group's India operations are now based in Chennai. Mr Menon said the Chennai office would soon be the hub of the company's South Asian and West Asian markets. By December, the company's products would be available across Tamil Nadu and Kerala and, within a year, throughout South India.

Manufacturing plant

The company was targeting pan-India market by 2013 and had also plans to set up a manufacturing plant in India by then, he said.

TOA Group, started in 1964, now boasts a turnover of Rs 5,000 crore and employs around 5,000 people. It is exporting its products to more than 40 countries.

Mr Ramdas, General Manager, TOA Group, Kerala, said the company would be selling only ultra-premium eco-friendly paints and products with a warranty of up to 10 years. It had already launched six brands of paints in the category in India.

Apart from these, the company was also manufacturing and exporting decorative paint, heavy paint, wood coating, protective coating, marine coating, chemical construction, aerosol spray and abrasive products, he added.
