Global hair dressing firm Toni & Guy said it will adopt a three-pronged approach for India, including expansion through franchises, opening hair-dressing academies of global standards and introducing its own range of hair-care products.
Toni & Guy is a London-based hairdressing and training business by brothers Giuseppe (Toni) and Gaetano (Guy) Mascolo. There are more than 400 salons worldwide.
Rupert Berrow, Group Finance Director, Toni & Guy, said it has been witnessing traction since its started operations in India. “We have identified three master franchisers to expand in North, West and South. These three franchisers will further expand the brand in India,” he said. Toni & Guy has six salons pan-India. The company said it works on a royalty payment mode where franchisers pay a fixed royalty amount.
Berrow said the company is also in talks to open its hair-dressing academies in India. “We will be shortly opening academies in Delhi and Chennai.”
The company also plans to introduce its label.m range of products for the Indian market.
“In India, besides retailing our products, we will also equip the locals with the latest trends and fads with our extensive training,” he added.
Hair-care marketThe fast-growing hair-care market (excluding hair oil) in India is valued at $300 million.
The hair-care market can be segmented into hair oils, shampoos, hair colourants, conditioners and hair gels.
