After distributing power TV sets to NGOs and schools in Mumbai, Chennai and Odisha, Toshiba India Pvt Ltd has extended its CSR initiatives to Kerala by distributing LCDs to underprivileged children .
The company has handpicked the Vivekananda Cultural Society, running 12 orphanages in various districts of Kerala, and gifted 8 LCD TVs with the sole motive of giving 600 underprivileged orphans the entertainment that they deserve.
Mr Pranab Mohanty, Vice President – Sales, DS Div, Toshiba India, said the integration of underprivileged children into the mainstream society is what we emphasise on and what we work for. An initiative like this will give children the opportunity to experience the visual medium and thus helping them in increasing their knowledge.
Mr K.P. Narayanan, Treasurer of Vivekananda Cultural Society, said this is possibly the first time a consumer durable brand is giving away LCDs to the needy orphan kids. “I feel elated to be a part of this initiative and humbly express my gratitude that Toshiba India believes in the CSR activities so passionately,” he said.
Toshiba India Regional Manager, Mr Bhavesh Parekh, and Mr Baburaj Menon, State Head, participated in the function.
