Vaigai Lanka Private Ltd, the overseas division of Vaighai Agro Products Ltd, Madurai, manufacturer of rice bran oil, safety match chemicals and cotton yarn, has bagged the Gold Award at an award function of the National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka Export Awards 2010, in the Agriculture Bulk Sector, Large Industry category.
The overseas division procures rice bran from over 300 rice mils located all over the Island and has been exporting the agricultural commodity to India since 2004.
Mr V. Neethi Mohan, Chairman and Managing Director of Vaigai Lanka, received the award from Mr Bandula Padmakumara Chairman, Daily News , in the presence of Mr Basil Rajapaksa , Minister for Economic Development, Sri Lanka. held at Colombo, recently.
The company is planning to expand its activities in Asia by setting up manufacturing facilities in Sri Lanka, Indonesia and Bangladesh by 2014. The future plans include setting up plants in Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines, the company's press release said.
