Volkswagen (VW) India launched on Tuesday the 7th generation Passat sedan at a competitive price tag of Rs 20.80-25.65 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The premium sedan is powered by a 2-litre TDI diesel engine delivering 170 PS of power and is available in both automatic and manual transmission options. Bookings begin from Wednesday and deliveries start by April-end. Available in three variants, the Passat boasts BlueMotion technologies, which help in increasing fuel efficiency and reduce emissions.
These include a Start-Stop system to shut off the engine when idle and Brake Energy Regeneration. The sedan also features cooled/heated seats, Attention Assist System that alerts the driver against fatigue and Park Assist for parking in tight spaces. Mr Neeraj Garg, Member of the Board and Director, VW Passenger Cars, VW Group Sales India said that the company is open to introducing BlueMotion technologies in other models in the lower end of its range as well (such as the Polo, Vento).
