Yashoda Cancer Institute has launched a helpline to provide support and information to cancer patients and their families on the occasion of the World Cancer Day.
``The helpline bearing the number – 040 67232323 – will help in creating more awareness on the importance of early detection of cancer. There is a need for togetherness in fighting against this disease,’’ Dr G S Rao, Managing Director, Yashoda Group of Hospitals said after formally launching the helpline here on Thursday.
Everyday, about 350 patients were being given radiation as part of treatment in addition t0 150 patients under Arrogya Sri Scheme of the State Government, he added.
Film actor, Mr D Venkatesh formally launched the helpline.
Meanwhile, in another programme, Apollo Cancer Hospital had also oranised a quiz for kids on cancer and a `cancer walk’ from KBR Park to Apollo Health City here, according to a release.
