Bharat Petroleum Corporation is planning to launch a new loyalty card for its customers by March 2013.

The firm would be tying up with banks, fast moving consumer goods companies, travel and airlines companies, which would enable card holders to get additional loyalty points. These points could be redeemed for a number of rewards and incentives.

In the first phase of the rollout, the card would be launched in 10 cities across the country.

BPCL is also toying with the idea of converting the loyalty card into a prepaid card, whereby customers would be able to carry out their transactions.

The company already has PetroBonus and SmartFleet loyalty card. In the last fiscal, the cards had earned over Rs 15,883 crore revenues for the company.

Arjun Hira, General Manager (Retail), BPCL, told Business Line that currently customers get a limited number of points, when they buy fuel using the PetroBonus card. But with the new card in place by early next year, customers are bound to get loyalty points, even when they buy goods in the super market or buy an air ticket, he said.
