Consumer durables major LG Electronics India aims to garner revenues of about ₹3,500 crore this year from the air-conditioners segment with a bigger push towards the 5-Star AC range.

In 2017, the company had decided to shift its entire AC line-up to inverter technology.

The company aims to now further consolidate its market share in the AC segment with a new range of Dual Cool ACs which has a wider line-up of 5-star ACs. Out of the 54 models launched on Monday, 22 are of 5-star BEE rating.

Vijay Babu, Vice-President, Home Appliance, LG Electronics India, said that the company’s strategy to shift the entire line-up of ACs to inverter range helped the company garner a growth of 28 per cent last year at a time when the AC industry growth was almost flat.

“This year, too, we are adopting a differentiated strategy with a strong focus on our 5-star AC range and expect to garner ₹3,500 crore in revenues targeting a growth of 35 per cent,” he added.

The company expects nearly 70 per cent of the overall AC sales to come from its energy efficient 5-star range. The company said it is already seeing a strong pick-up for its 5 star AC range in the southern and western region.

Besides Dual Inverter technology, the new AC range is Wwi-Ffi enabled, comes with copper pipes, dual row condenser and are equipped with the eco-friendly Refrigerant (R32).

“The penetration of AC sales is only five5 per cent in India currently and there is huge room for growth in this segment,” Vijay Babu said.

The price of its new LG Dual Cool AC starts from ₹31,990 to ₹69,990 which includes a range of 3-star and 5-star air-conditioners.
