Amara Raja Batteries Limited has posted a net profit of ₹122 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2015, up 15 per cent over ₹105.96 crore it logged for the corresponding quarter last year.

Income has increased from ₹1025 crore during the quarter ended June 30, 2014 to ₹1138 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2015, an increase of 11 per cent. Last fiscal ended March 31, 2015, the battery major had posted a net profit of ₹411 crore and net sales of ₹4211 crore.

Jaydev Galla, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of ARBL, in a statement said, “We have completed the auto batteries expansion at the appropriate time when the demand from OEMs and aftermarket are beginning to gain traction. Production capacities of industrial and automotive sectors are adequately available and the firm is moving towards becoming a market leader in all the sectors.”

“We are gearing up to explore and grab emerging opportunities in various sectors of the economy relating to energy storage solutions,” Galla said. Providing insights into the performance, the company stated that the automotive business continued to maintain growth momentum in all verticals of the business, with the four-wheeler battery business growing phenomenally backed by improved sales in aftermarket segment across both brands of PowerZone and Amaron.

The two-wheeler segment and Original Equipment Manufacture supplies too had higher sales. The expanded capacity also begun contributing to volumes. The firm registered highest revenue and profit during a quarter in Q1.
