Amazon.in has opened up more than 7,500 seasonal roles for its first big sale of the New Year – the Great Indian Sale, starting at 12 a.m. (midnight) on January 20 to 11.59 p.m. on January 22.

These seasonal roles, for which recruitment and training is currently under way will be available at Amazon’s 27 Fulfilment Centres, over 100 delivery stations and 15 sort centres across the country.

“We are excited to welcome these new personnel, who will be directly contributing to deliver an exceptional experience for Amazon.in customers during the upcoming Great Indian Sale,” said Akhil Saxena, Vice President – India Customer Fulfilment, Amazon India.

Amazon has been consistently focused on strengthening its logistics and delivery infrastructure to ensure faster delivery to shoppers across the country.

Last year, Amazon invested in six new fulfilment centres (FCs), taking the total number of operational FCs to 27 in 10 Indian States, offering a storage capacity of 7.5 million cubic feet, to make it the largest warehouse infrastructure for sellers in the e-commerce industry across the country.

A 100 Amazon Delivery Stations have been set up pan-India to support last mile delivery programs that allow the company to deliver orders efficiently.

The Service Partner Network, which is also one of the last mile models by Amazon in India and seeks to provide best-in-class delivery to customers in remote areas has been expanded to cover more than 250 delivery stations in satellite towns, tier II and III towns and villages. Budding and aspiring entrepreneurs in these areas act as Amazon.in’s local distribution network providers and create the last mile delivery footprint.

In September last year, Amazon.in also announced the expansion of its delivery network with the addition of over 10,000 stores under its ‘I Have Space’ program, which was initiated in mid-2015, taking the total number to 12,500 stores in over 50 cities with a majority being in tier II and III towns, including Jodhpur, Vellore, Warangal, Tirupur, Ajmer, Belgaum, Kota and so on.

In this program, Amazon partners with local store owners to provide pick up and delivery services to customers who order on Amazon.

The stores deliver products to the customers who live in the vicinity. Amazon also has rural distribution centres where they work with NGOs to train people in rural areas in route planning and making deliveries.
