Manufacturers of Ambuja Cement will set up 15 Ambuja knowledge centres in various parts of the country by December.

Addressing presspersons in Mangaluru on Thursday, Umesh Soni, Corporate Head of the Customer Support Group of the company, said that the company has set up 21 such centres in various parts of the country. The 22nd centre was inaugurated in Mangaluru on Wednesday.

Knowledge centres will be opened in places such as Jalandhar, Amritsar, Dehradun and Siliguri in the coming months.

These centres help share knowledge in the field of cement, concrete, construction technology and civil engineering among contractors, technicians and engineers through interactive and informative platforms, Soni said.

The facilities serve as experience centres dedicated at enriching the skill-sets and offer value-added services and solutions to the industry, he said.

He said the Mangaluru knowledge centre has planned 15 technical events for the next six months.

The Mangaluru centre intends to conduct skill-building programmes for 1,000 masons by 2020. Around 200 contractors and 100 construction engineers will be given required trainings by the end of 2016.

The Customer Support Group of the company has trained more than 10,000 masons and 5,000 contractors from various parts of the country through its knowledge centres. The company plans to train 18,000 masons and 15,000 contractors with certified construction courses by 2020, Soni added.
