Vexed with market research surveys and consider them a waste of time? Think twice. Speak Asia Online, a Singapore-based market research firm, claims it will pay Rs 500 for every online questionnaire you may fill in. It already has 4.15 lakh registered ‘panelists' in India.

However, there are a couple of riders. One needs to pass an online exam (or pay subscription to a market research magazine) and an interview to be eligible to get the questionnaires. The fee for online exam was put at about Rs 3,000 and registration Rs 1,000.

“It doesn't mean that people will be paid for whatever answers they give. They (answers) should not contradict with the details provided when people register with us. Also, answers in the same questionnaire should not contradict with one another. We get consultation fee from the clients,” Mr Vivek Gautam, Chief Marketing Officer of Speak Asia, told Business Line .

According to him, there was a huge need for opinions on products, services and politics from countries like India. More and more global companies wanted to enter India and they would like to have opinions on certain products and services before they launch their products here.

“Panelists who correctly fill in the questionnaire would generally get two questionnaires a week. They will get paid for referrals too,” he said.

While Maharashtra and North-East has 55,000 panelists each, Punjab has 75,000 and Lucknow city has 30,000 users.

“We are going in the process of expanding our presence in India. Later, we will introduce this in China, Bangladesh and the Philippines,” he said.
