AP Transco has bagged a National Award for meritorious performance conferred by the Ministry of Power, Government of India, in the category of “Transmission System Availability.”
It achieved 99.966 per cent of transmission system availability during the Year 2013-14 and has been conferred “Silver Shield” by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), Ministry of Power (MoP).
K. Vijayanand, Chairman and Managing Director, AP Transco received the award from Piyush Goyal, Union Power Minister, at New Delhi today.
Vijayanand said AP Transco has drawn up investment plans of Rs 11,087 crore during 2014-15 to 2018-19 which includes Rs 7,982 crore for capacity enhancement and strengthening of existing transmission network.
Of this Rs 3,500 crore has been earmarked for construction of a ‘Green Energy Corridor’ for evacuation of power from Solar and Wind projects. The transmission losses have been brought down from 4 per cent during 2013-14 to 3.36 per cent in 2014-15, according to a statement.
