Apollo Health and Lifestyle Ltd (AHLL) has unveiled its new line of hospitals named Apollo Spectra with an aim to clock ₹500 crore in revenues by 2020.

After six months of acquiring Nova Specialty Hospitals, AHLL, the wholly-owned subsidiary of the Apollo Hospitals Group, has rebranded the facilities as Apollo Spectra Hospitals.

Sudhir Garg, CEO, AHLL, told BusinessLine that elective surgeries or surgeries that can be immediately performed (as the tests and other background measures have been taken) will be the way of the future.

One of the reasons chains like Apollo are going in for elective surgeries is to increase efficiencies and look at patient safety.

“A 20-25 bed hospital specialising in certain surgeries can help in reducing costs as it need not be stocked with CT Scans, MRI machines etc., and also reduces the risks for a patient to minimise hospital infections,” he said.

This, in turn, helps a patient to be discharged faster and eliminates unnecessary hospital expenses, according to the company officials.

Also, Apollo Spectra is planning to have a two-bed surgical ICUs for a patient, in case of a complexity.

The hospital is also in the process of creating five national Centres of Excellence (CoE) in orthopaedics, obesity, urology, ENT and MIS.

AHLL, which also operates a network of women and children hospitals called Apollo Cradle, estimates that Spectra will contribute 40 per cent to AHLL's revenues this financial year.

Currently, it has revenues of around ₹140 crore.

Through this launch, AHLL would ensure that the patients across seven cities — Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Jaipur, Kanpur, Mumbai and Pune — are supported by around 700 doctors.
