Apollo Hospitals’ automatic multi-level vehicle parking facility set up jointly with the Chennai Corporation was inaugurated on Tuesday. Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa opened the facility through a video conference.
The facility has been built at a cost of ₹43 crore and is spread over 25,000 sq ft. It has seven levels and can accommodate 250 cars and 200 two-wheelers. Cars will be lifted to the level where slots are available, in three minutes.
Chakravarti Kasturi, Chief Project Officer of Apollo Hospitals, said: “The new facility helps not only in reducing congestion but also the manpower.” Apollo Hospitals will pay annual lease rental of ₹48 lakh to the Corporation for the 4,000-sq-ft plot on which the parking facility has come up, he added.
