Integrated textile and branded apparel player Arvind Ltd on Tuesday said its revenue increased by 5.66 per cent while profit after tax (PAT) increased by 4.8 per cent in the second quarter of 2012-13 ended September 30, as compared with the corresponding quarter last fiscal. While revenues were Rs 1,325 crore (Rs 1,254 crore), net profit stood at Rs 65 crore (Rs 62 crore), according to a release here.
During the quarter, its textile business grew by 13 per cent, driven by a 25 per cent volume growth in shirting fabric, and 4 per cent volume growth in denim fabric.
Brands and retail business grew by 6 per cent in challenging market conditions, Jayesh Shah, Director and Chief Financial Officer, said.
The business scenario is moderately bullish as international demand is strong. “We are satisfied that margins in both textile and brands and retail business are now witnessing upward movement,” he added.
