Hinduja flagship Ashok Leyland has signed a memorandum of understanding with Elbit Systems, Israel for defence mobility solutions. As part of this agreement, Ashok Leyland will provide high mobility vehicles (HMV) for mounting Elbit Systems’ artillery guns and systems. The integrated systems are targeted for worldwide export markets.

“We are certain this partnership will expand our reach globally and underlines our capabilities of making and designing in India, for the world,” Vinod K Dasari, Managing Director, Ashok Leyland, said in a statement.

Ashok Leyland has developed expertise in design, manufacturing of logistic vehicles, combat support HMVs and armoured vehicles. For over three decades, Ashok Leyland has been providing mobility solutions to the Indian army. The company claims that Elbit MoU marks yet another milestone for the company.

“Now, with Elbit MoU, we will be able to compete on a global stage with global OEMs. Our strong focus on strategic global defence organisations to provide mobility technology is being recognised,” said Amandeep Singh, Head - Defence, Ashok Leyland.

With Elbit as its partners, the company seeks to leverage the capabilities of both organisations and provide world-class mobility solutions across the globe, he added.

Israel’s Elbit Systems is a global technology company that makes land systems, artillery systems and platforms, howitzers, mortars and ammunition for various defence requirements, said the statement.
