Ever come across a diagnostic lab for cars? Here’s one – Autosure in Coimbatore that does a master health checkup of your vehicle.
Promoted by automotive vehicle service equipment manufacturing company ATS Elgi, this (Autosure) newly promoted venture aims to address the important gaps in the market place today.
Ramesh Ponnuswami, Managing Director, ATS Elgi, pointed out that with cars that have been on the road for a while there is always a risk that one cannot predict with certainty when something could go wrong.
“By combining science and diagnostic tools, we do a master health checkup of the vehicle and go beyond testing by providing a guarantee on the health of the vehicle for say one year or 10000 km.”
The company has established a latest testing laboratory with a wide range of equipment to test the condition of any car. “With over 150 tests (conducted in 1 hour 20 minutes), the test report from Autosure would accurately present the condition of the car,” he added.
The company plans to establish 200 such labs across the country in three years, starting from January 2016.
At this pilot facility in Coimbatore, the investment on equipment alone is estimated at over Rs one crore. The facility has the capacity to conduct health check up for 18 cars a day. “We would be focusing on passenger cars for now and not the commercial vehicles or two-wheelers,” ATS Elgi MD said.
While stating that testing is possible for all range of cars (from entry level to premium segment), he conceded that there is limitation for conducting the dynameter test on “all time, all wheel” vehicles.
On testing cost, he said: “We have a rate card. For the entry level car, it would cost Rs 2,000 and this would move up depending on the vehicle segment. An extra fee would be levied if the owner seeks a certification on the health of the vehicle.”
Reiterating that Autosure is a diagnostic lab and not into the business of buying and selling cars, or repairing and servicing of the vehicle, Ponnuswami said: “Even in EU where fitness testing is mandatory, it is done only for brakes, headlights etc. But this is a comprehensive facility.”
