Beardsell Ltd, a company engaged in packaging products, pre-fabricated buildings and insulation materials, is on an expansion mode and plans to set up two units in North and East where it is seeking to step up its presence.

Bharat Anumolu, Managing Director of Beardsell Ltd, a company with over 100 years of history and founded by Sir William Arthur Beardsell, has transformed its business from being a packaging products and insulation company with a new line of prefabricated buildings over the past few years and gearing up for the next phase of growth.

Anumolu said the company's QuikBuild Construction System has been growing rapidly both for home and commercial set-ups necessitating expansion. The investment will not be big and will be met through internal accruals, he told BusinessLine . The company closed last financial year with a consolidated turnover of ₹192.57 crore and profit of ₹4.80 crore and has been growing at about 20-25 per cent per annum. “We expect to grow at least by 15-20 per cent year on year and this could be higher too depending upon how various business divisions function apart from possibility of inorganic growth,” he said.

Last fiscal, while packaging contributed about ₹70 crore and prefab ₹70 crore, the rest came from insulation and other services. “Over the next few years, we see prefab becoming a major business,” he said.

The company’s prefab product Steilwallz is a pre-engineered panel consisting of an insulated polystyrene core sandwiched between two layers of galvanised steel mesh held together with steel trusses.

The interesting aspect is that it provides insulation, is stronger and conforms to green building norms, Anumolu said.
