Global hospitality firm Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, on Monday, rebranded itself as the Radisson Hotel Group. The group said the decision for coming up with a new brand identity was taken to capitalise on the powerful brand equity and the international recognition the name Radisson enjoys.

“It is not merely a name change but goes much beyond that. There are many facets to it such as introduction of the global loyalty programme which would make it easier for members to associate their benefits with all brands and initiatives,” said Raj Rana, Chief Executive Officer, South Asia, Radisson Hotel Group.

To provide best moments for the guests, the group has launched ‘Every Moment Matters’ as the new signature service philosophy of the company and all its hotel brands, he added.

In January, the group had changed the name of Country Inn and Suits by Carlson to Country Inn and Suits by Radisson. Other than Park Plaza, all other brands in the group now have the word Radisson in the name, such as Radisson Collection, Radisson Blu and Radisson Red.

The group also announced the launch of ‘Radisson Collection’ a premium collection of exceptional hotels in landmark locations of the country. “So far, 14 Radisson hotels across the globe have agreed to join the collection portfolio. In India we are going to upgrade Radisson Blu, Agra. We will evaluate our global portfolio as well as hotels in India that can be upgraded to bring them under the ‘Radisson Collection’ portfolio,” Rana told BusinessLine.

“Currently there are 89 hotels which are operational in the country and we plan to launch 9-10 hotels this year. Our target is to hit 100 this year,” said Rana. The group has 140 hotels which include both the ones that are operational and the ones being developed.

In the fourth quarter of this year, Radisson Red, another brand of the hotel, will also enter the Indian market. “We will be launching Radisson Red in Mohali, Chandigarh this year.,” said Rana.
