Dabur India on Tuesday informed that the company will launch two Ayurveda products during the 8th World Ayurveda Congress in Ahmedabad during December 14-17.

A chyawanprash-like paste Ratnaprash and syrup Hridayasava are the two products in the OTC segment that the company plans to add to its portfolio. Ratnaprash is positioned in the general health category. "Real Moti is the key ingredient in Ratnaprash, which cools down the digestive process. It also provides strength, stamina and vigor," the company said.

On the other hand, Hridayasava, is an Ayurveda asava formulation, which is beneficial for heart with herbs like arjuna, ashwagandha, giloy, pushkarmool and shankhpushpi, it added. "Ayurvedic products market is growing at 16 per cent rate. The market size is estimated to be abour Rs 16,000 crore which includes OTC products, cosmetics and patented products.

The World Ayurveda Congress will be a big boost to spread the awareness about the benefits of the ancient and herbal medicines," said Durga Prasad Velidindi, head of marketing, Dabur India. The Eighth edition of World Ayurveda Congress is first time being held in Ahmedabad.

"There will be deliberations on the issues concerning the Ayurveda sector including the pending issues of cross prescriptions, inclusion in medi-claims, drug expiry among others. There will also be discussions on ease of business for Ayurveda products makers," added Velidindi. The three-day event will be attended by about 5,000 Ayurveda practitioners and senior government officials including from the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India.
