SAIL unit, Durgapur Steel Plant (DSP), recorded a five per cent steel output growth in the first half of 2012-13 against the first-half production of the previous year. The production of special steel and value-added products, however, grew by 17 per cent over H1 of last year and constituted 77 per cent of the total saleable steel production in H1.
Hot metal and sinter production witnessed a growth of 7 and 14 per cent respectively in the first half.
These are the highest ever DSP production figures for the April–September period. “Efficient execution of strategies yielded the best ever H1 performance,” according to P. K. Singh, CEO of DSP.
The Q2 production of hot metal, crude steel and saleable steel achieved a growth of 16, 12 and 8 per cent respectively. Special steel and value-added product output improved by 12 per cent and 9 per cent.
