Essar Steel has recorded 58 per cent increase in steel output during the September quarter to 1.34 million tonne (mt) against 8.5 lakh tonne recorded in the same period last year. Pellet production was also up 89 per cent at 2.43 mt against 1.28 mt in the same quarter last year. Liquid steel output was up 65 per cent at 1.34 mt (8.1 lt), said the company in a statement on Friday. At 81,000 tonnes, the company’s pre-painted galvanised iron production was up 98 per cent against 41,000 tonnes logged in the corresponding period last year.
