Forbes Marshall, a Pune-based manufacturer of steam systems and instrumentation, has commissioned a new facility for steam systems at its new manufacturing campus at Chakan.

This is the third unit to go on stream at its new 50-acre campus at Chakan, which has been built under the mega project scheme of the Maharashtra government. Around ₹300 crore has been invested so far, and raised through internal accruals and debt in equal proportion, said Naushad Forbes, Director Forbes Marshall. At present, the first phase and half of the second phase of the project have been completed with a total built up area of 48,000 sq metres.

Forbes Marshall’s complete range of steam products and systems will be made at the new Chakan factory, including steam traps, automatic pressure powered condensate pumps, pressure reducing station, de-aerators, pipeline ancillaries such as strainers, check valves and piston valves, steam operated pump traps, custom built hot water solutions and heat recovery packages, catering to the process industry.

Elaborating on the expansion, Forbes said that the new facility will help the company more than double existing capacity for steam systems and boilers. It will also help it focus more on international markets in South-East Asia, West Asia and Africa.

“Currently, exports account for 20 per cent of our turnover, and we expect this to rise to 30 per cent over the next two years,” Forbes said, adding that the company’s target was to take exports to half the turnover in the next five years.

Approximately half of the Group’s total turnover of over ₹1,000 crore comes from steam systems and boilers, while instrumentation accounts for the rest.
