American carmaker Ford will launch its iconic Mustang model in India in the second quarter of this year, as a completely built unit (CBU). The price is expected to be ₹50-60 lakh.

Unveiling the Mustang, the company said it has made many changes to suit Indian regulations, including right-hand drive steering.

The new Mustang will bring the world-class performance and refinement of Ford’s iconic pony car to India’s roads, the company said.

The new Ford Mustang comes equipped with the latest edition of the 5.0-litre V8 engine, featuring an upgraded valve-train and cylinder heads that yield more than 420 horsepower and 529 Nm of torque.

A new intake manifold improves low-speed breathing for better fuel economy, idle stability, and emissions, the company said, adding that the car can go to a top speed of 250 kmph.

“For the first time in 50 years we have a right-handed Mustang. We will launch this iconic model in India in the second quarter of 2016. Throughout its long history, the Ford Mustang has been a symbol of optimism and confidence for people all over the world,” Nigel Harris, Managing Director and President, Ford India, said here.

Since the Mustang first went on sale in 1964, Ford has sold over nine million units of the car, the company said.
