French childcare group Babilou has acquired a majority stake in Chennai-based Amelio Early Education as part of its foray into the Indian market.
Sridevi Raghavan, founder and Chief Executive Officer, Amelio Early Education, said the partnership will help the company tap into the best practices of international curriculum in the early-education space.
It will also help the company expand further into key Indian cities.
Founded in 2008, Amelio Early Education is a day-care centre and preschool that currently operates 13 centres across Chennai and one in Bengaluru.
For Babilou group, it is a new opportunity for expansion in India.
The French group, found in 2003, has 520 childcare centres — a combination of day-care centres, nursery clubs and nursery schools.
It is present in eight countries including Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg and the UAE.
