Wind turbine manufacturer, Gamesa India, has not lost hopes on the joint venture the company announced with the now-bankrupt solar power major, SunEdison.

Gamesa India, the Indian arm of the Spanish wind turbine maker of the same name, had announced the joint venture with SunEdison on July 2, 2015, for setting up wind projects worth 1,000 MW.

In January, a Reuters report quoted a spokesperson of Gamesa as saying that the talks had “not advanced”.

SunEdison filed for ‘Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection’ in the US on April 21.

However, at a press conference here today, Gamesa India’s Chairman and Managing Director, Ramesh Kymal, said “the MoU is still there”. In response to a question, Kymal said that the India head of SunEdison, Pashupathy Gopalan, was still “very positive” about the SunEdison in India.

SunEdison had earlier contracted Gamesa to supply wind turbines for 48 MW. Kymal said today that the machines had been delivered.
