Geo Marine Dynamics (I) Pvt Ltd (Geomardy), a local company engaged in providing services in deep seabed engineering and underwater unmanned systems, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a US company, Global Fusion (a holding company of C&C Technologies Inc. and ASV Global Unmanned Systems ) recently, according to the CEO, Mr J. Srinivasa Raju.

Mr Raju said at a press meet here on Friday that Geomardy was engaged in providing innovative technological solutions to the defence sector, and ports and harbours on the east coast for the past few years.

“We are based at Visakhapatnam in the proximity of the Krishna-Godavari basin in the State where oil and gas exploration is going on both by the ONGC and several private companies. This tie-up with Global Fusion will enable Geomardy to bring in the cutting edge technologies, customise them to suit local needs and offer them to different companies in a cost-effective manner,” he said.

Climate change study

He said the technologies would make deep sea bed sampling, necessary in climate change studies, more precise and reliable. “Climate change has become such an important area of academic study and India wants to contribute significantly in the field. We need the technologies to fulfil the ambition,” he said.

He spoke about the applications in the Defence sector and how the tie-up would facilitate induction of new technologies into the field. “It is a very promising area and there is room for many more companies. At present, however, there are only three or four such companies based at Mumbai and on the east coast ours is the sole one,” he added.

Mr Raju said that Geomardy was providing opportunities to the post-graduates in geology, geo-physics and related fields to gain expertise in the latest technologies and improve their career prospects in the country and abroad.
