A refrigerator that plays music as you do your chores? Yes, says Godrej Appliances which has launched the first-of-its-kind music-enabled refrigerators that come with an inbuilt FM radio and MP3 player.
“We have redefined convergence by launching Edge SX Muziplay refrigerators. Consumers can listen to FM programmes, plug in a pen drive with an Mp3 song or even a mobile phone loaded with MP3 songs or charge their mobile phones,” Mr Kamal Nandi, Vice-President, Sales and Marketing, Godrej Appliances, told reporters.
Priced between Rs 12,690 to Rs 15,660, the company said the refrigerator was aimed at giving entry-level consumers an attractive option.
Godrej's consumer durables division also said that it expected a 35 per cent growth in sales to Rs 2,700 crore during the current year. Last fiscal, it clocked a turnover of Rs 2,000 crore.
“We are looking at a slew of innovative products to capture a slice of the market,” he said, adding that the company has been introducing a product every quarter.
On its other product categories, Godrej Appliances said it was launching its television sets in a phased manner and recently started test marketing its water purifiers, with plans to go pan-India by next year.
