At a time when pump manufacturers are struggling to cope with the spiralling cost of inputs, the Chief Sales Officer of Grundfos India, Saravanan Panneer Selvam, observed that “technology intervention will bring down the system cost’’.

The company, a provider of pumping solutions, has rolled out intelligent and innovative range of pump solutions such as demand driven distribution, S Pump, Grundfos Remote Management - precisely to provide the right solution by ensuring minimum utilisation of energy and water, while delivering optimal results, he told BusinessLine.

“We have transformed the manufacturing process, introduced light weight and specialised pumps such as water booster pumps to increase the water pressure in the entire system and all appliances connected to it such as showers, taps, toilets, washing machines, and sprinklers. Our solution is based on customers unique demand. The pumps cover a broad range of applications and wide variety of configurations across industrial, water utility and building applications.”

After registering a stagnant growth in 2017 (January-December), the market has since started to stabilise and is moving in the right direction. “The first three months of the current calendar year has been good. We have projects in the pipeline. We hope to close this year with early double digit growth,” he said.

With 15 manufacturing plants and an annual production of 17 million pumps (globally), the company “is a trendsetter in water technology’’, claimed Selvam.

Selvam was in the city to take a look at the Experiential Centre established by one of its OEM customers . “We have one such (company-owned) centre in China. We are contemplating to build one for our company here. It will serve as a display platform of our range of pumps, with demo units and a training room as well. The idea is to create awareness about unique offerings.”

Launch of mobile app

To enhance customer service, Grundfos had launched the ‘SmArt Serv’ mobile app in January this year. This has helped provide service support more effectively and quickly to our range of products, he said.

“We have 2,200 registered customers and adding close to 600 to 700 every week. The response has been phenomenal. The second phase of the mobile app launch is slated in June. We are addressing some of the issues raised by the users and tweaking the page layout. A Web-based app is also being developed,” Selvam said.
