Engineering and construction firm Hindustan Construction Company Ltd said on Tuesday it has been awarded the Rs 298.63 crore Limbdi Branch Canal contract by Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited in Gujarat.
The canal work would extend irrigational benefits to 2.71 lakh acres of land in 189 villages in 11 talukas of the Ahmedabad, Bhavnagar and Surendranagar districts in Gujarat, HCC said in a statement.
The scope of work includes construction of canal earthwork, lining, structures and service roads of distributaries and minors of the canal, besides maintenance and operation for five years. The project will be completed in 18 months, it was stated.
