Global hospitality chain Hilton Worldwide, which operates 17 hotels with 2,820 rooms in India, added a second hotel to its luxury portfolio with the Conrad Bengaluru on Monday.
Owned by the Prestige Group and managed by Hilton, the 285-room hotel, including 21 suites that overlook Ulsoor Lake, was built at a total investment outlay of ₹450 crore.
‘Strategic market’“India is a very strategic market for us where we have grown with a multi-brand and multi-partner strategy. The timely arrival of Conrad Bengaluru demonstrates Conrad Hotels & Resorts’ commitment to growing the brand’s presence in the country, complementing its sister property, Conrad Pune,” Daniel Welk, Vice-President of operations, luxury and lifestyle, Asia-Pacific, Hilton, told BusinessLine .
This hotel has one of the largest meetings and events spaces in the city with 17,000 sq ft, including a 7,610-sq-ft Grand Ballroom, a junior ballroom, six meeting rooms and a boardroom, where corporatates can host international conferences, he said.
Fast growthThe hospitality major has 18 new hotels totalling 3,242 rooms in the pipeline, that will come up in the key markets of Goa, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Indore, Shirdi and Neemrana over the next 3-5 years. “We have 205 hotels in the Asia-Pacific region and India currently has under 10 per cent of our portfolio,” said Welk. On the performance of the luxury room market in India, Welk said, “The rise of the middle class, increasing disposable incomes and double-digit growth in domestic tourism are very positive trends. Pune and Bengaluru markets are growing much faster than the other cities in India for luxury rooms with RevPAR (revenue per available room) in both the cities growing at 5-7 per cent. While the average room rate for the luxury segment in Pune is ₹7,000–7,500, it is higher in Bengaluru at ₹9,000– 10,000.”
The Conrad Bengaluru, located at the edge of MG Road, has rooms priced upwards of ₹10,000, spanning 366 sq ft, suites spanning 740 sq ft, five dining and bar outlets, a full-service spa and salon, a 24-hour fitness centre and an outdoor temperature-controlled pool.
