Hyundai Motor India Ltd is increasing production of its new SUV Creta to 10,000 units a month to meet demand as bookings cross 70,000 units in the domestic market.

The company, which has also received export order of 15,770 units, said it will explore new international markets soon.

“Our goal is to maximise our production to make 10,000 units of Creta (per month) to meet global customers’ demand while maintaining our leadership position in the domestic market,” Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) Senior Vice—President (Sales & Marketing) Rakesh Srivastava, HMIL, said in a statement.

According to company officials, the increase in output will come about during this month. Previously, the company has been producing around 7,200 units of the model, but decided to increase it in the wake of strong demand with waiting period exceeding over 3—4 months depending on variants.

The model is available in three engine options of 1.6 litre and 1.4 litre in diesel, and 1.6 litre in petrol.

HMIL said the Creta has received over 70,000 bookings and 3,40,000 enquiries in India and over 15,770 orders globally since its launch in July this year.

The model has received an overwhelming response in global markets such as Latin America (Colombia, Costa Rica, Peru and Panama), the Middle—East (Oman, the UAE, Saudi) and Africa (Egypt, Morocco and Nigeria), it added.
