Indian Oil’s retail outlet in Leh is the world’s highest altitude fuelling station to be powered by solar energy. In a press release, the public sector oil retailer said that the solar power generation system enables the fuelling station to save approximately ₹30,000 a month and that the investment is recoverable in about 18 months from the day of installation.
Indian Oil plans to add another 1,500 retail outlets and Kisan Seva Kendras in the current financial year and envisions touching 5,000 solar-powered outlets and 10,000 by 2022.
