Indian Oil Corporation and GAIL (India) Ltd. have signed an MoU with Dhamra LNG Terminal Pvt Ltd (DLTPL), for an onshore regasification terminal in Odisha.

DLTPL, owned by Adani Enterprises Ltd (AEL), plans to develop an onshore LNG regasification terminal having an initial capacity of 5 million tons per annum (MTPA).

When asked, an Adani Group spokesman told BusinessLine that the proposed project is at a “very preliminary stage”.

It would be developed at Dhamra port in Bhadrak district of Odisha on the eastern coast of India. Dhamra is an all-weather deep water port.

As per the terms of MoU, IndianOil and GAIL would reserve regasification capacity in the terminal to supply regasified LNG in the emerging gas markets in the eastern part of the country.

IndianOil and GAIL would also have the option to hold equity in DLTPL at a later date.
