Scattered clouds have farmed out over the southern metropolis of Chennai, venue for tonight’s second qualifier match in the IPL cricket tournament.

The match begins at 8 p.m., and pits hosts Chennai Super Kings against Delhi Daredevils at the M. A. Chidambaram stadium.

The playing conditions towards the night are likely to be anything but hostile, what with night temperatures likely to cross the threshold of 30 deg Celsius-mark.

Humidity is ranging in the region of 35 deg Celsius concurrently, given the continental northwesterly flows blowing across a belatedly heated-up landmass.

But there is also the presence of a trough of lower pressure in the neighbourhood, extending all the way south from the country’s northeast.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its 24-hour outlook for today had given a ‘no rain’ forecast.

But it had also said that the humidity level could go up to 75 per cent, and also warned about a ‘slight chance’ of thunderstorm under a partly cloudy sky.

This is likely to hold, as per forecasts by peer models, but they don’t rule out chances of precipitation during late evening either.

All this could go to generate tough conditions out there in the middle for the teams, one of which coast into the finals of the tournament.
