ITC Ltd on Friday said that based on the guidelines issued by Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), the company is withdrawing “contains no added MSG” declaration from its YiPPee! noodles packages. Under the Food Safety Standards Act, if a manufacturer adds MSG to the product, the quantum of MSG so added needs to be declared. In connection with another brand of noodles, the FSSAI has expressed the opinion that “contains no added MSG” is “inappropriate”, the release says.
