Focusing on providing world class hotels right next to industrial hubs across India, the Rs 1,450 crore Jakson Group, leading power solutions provider, is foraying into hospitality sector with an investment of Rs 200 crore in the first phase over the next couple of years.

“Most visiting industrialists have to travel 20-40 kms from urban centres to reach their production facilities. We want to provide them starred business class hotels in close proximity to their plants to cut down on their travel time. We plan to open 20 such hotels under the Jakson Inns brand around industrial hubs by 2020, with about 2,000 rooms,” Sandeep Talaulicar, Managing Director, Jakson Hospitality, told Business Line, here.

Jakson’s first of the two three-star properties will be operational at Phaltan in Satara district of Maharashtra in July while construction of a similar facility is set to begin shortly at Sanand in Ahmedabad district. Work on the second Phaltan property would also begin shortly. “We are also planning to set up three or four hotels at other industrial hubs in Gujarat.”

The group has invested Rs 40 crore on the first property at Phatlan which has 80 rooms while the Sanand hotel will have 100 rooms, he said. Each of Jakson Inn property would have around 100 rooms.

The business conglomerate having four verticals—genset manufacturing, power distribution systems, solar power, electrical contracting—entered the hospitality business in 2012.
