JSW Group has appointed its in-house veteran Arun Maheshwari as Joint Managing Director and CEO of JSW Infrastructure. He will report to JSW Group Chairman, Sajjan Jindal.

Maheshwari will replace Capt Sharma who was associated with JSW Group for last 15 years and has now expressed desire to pursue other interests outside JSW.

Confirming the appointment, a JSW group spokesperson said a formal announcement on the appointment is expected early next week.

Maheshwari has been associated with JSW Steel since November 1995 and has handled multiple roles within JSW Group. He has been responsible for sourcing major steel and power generating raw materials, framing corporate strategy and international marketing.

In all these assignments, he successfully steered each of these areas with his entrepreneurial skills, creative approach and lateral thinking. He has over two decades of experience in the steel industry.

Maheshwari takes over the top job at JSW Infrastructure at a time when the company is planning to expand capacities to 200 MTPA by 2021 to focus on cargo trade opportunities in India and internationally.

The company plans to enhance Jaigarh Port capacity to 80 million tonnes per annum from 45 mtpa; the capacity of the two berths operated by the company at Mormugao Port in Goa is being increased to 15 mtpa from 10 mtpa while capacity at JSW Dharamtar Port will go up to 34 mtpa from 20 mtpa.

It is also setting up a 18 mtpa capacity at JSW Paradip Terminal and 30 mtpa at Paradip East Quay Coal Terminal besides 17 mtpa capacity is coming up at JSW Nandgaon Port. Internationally, the company operates a terminal at Fujairah Port.
