Homegrown FMCG firm Jyothy Laboratories today reported a 47.35 per cent jump in consolidated net profit at Rs 38.99 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2015.

The company had posted a net profit of Rs 26.46 crore in the year-ago period.

Net sales of the company stood at Rs 384.79 crore during the quarter, up 7.97 per cent, against Rs 356.37 crore in the same quarter last fiscal, Jyothy Laboratories Ltd said in a regulatory filing.

“With increased investments in our brands and differentiated product offering, we are well poised to strengthen our position in the market...We will continue to invest in our power brands to improve consumer mindshare and capitalise on our new offerings,” Chairman and Managing Director M P Ramachandran said.

The company’s soaps and detergent business, which includes brands like Ujala and Henko, grew 3.77 per cent to Rs 287.25 crore during the quarter under review.

Besides, its homecare business that includes products such as mosquito coils, reported sales of Rs 81.94 crore, up 25.09 per cent from the year-ago period.

Shares of Jyothy Laboratories were trading 1.44 per cent down at Rs 285 per scrip on the BSE.
