KIOCL Ltd, a public sector undertaking under the Union Ministry of Steel, produced 14.64 lakh tonnes of pellets in 2016-17 as against 1 lakh tonne in 2015-16. The company’s Mangaluru plant manufactures pellets from iron ore.
A press release by the company said here on Wednesday that it clocked record pellet production of 2.8 lakh tonnes in January and March. These were the highest monthly productions achieved in the last five years, it said.
