KIOCL Ltd (formerly Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Ltd) has entered into an agreement with NMDC for operating latter’s pellet plant at Donimalai in Bellary district of Karnataka.
NMDC has set up a beneficiation plant of capacity of 1.89 million tonnes per annum and a pellet plant of capacity of 1.2 million tonnes per annum for manufacturing pellets.
KIOCL Ltd, which has the expertise in operation and maintenance of beneficiation plant and pellet plant, has offered its services for operation and maintenance of these plants of NMDC at Donimalai.
Quoting Malay Chatterjee, Chairman and Managing Director of KIOCL, a press release said here on Friday that the contract would facilitate KIOCL to gainfully utilize its experienced manpower for operating the NMDC plants for mutual benefit of both the public sector undertakings.
He said that the ‘Operation and Maintenance’ vertical has come as a succor to the company in the absence of captive mines to utilize its available experienced competent manpower. This will go a long way in making the company sustainable in the long run too, he said.
Narendra Kotari, Chairman and Managing Director of NMDC, who was present at the time of signing the agreement at Donimalai, said that NMDC partnering KIOCL would achieve landmark milestone in pelletization programme in the country.
N Vidyananda, Director (Production and Projects), KIOCL Ltd, and CE Kindo, Executive Director and in-charge of Donimalai Project, NMDC, signed the agreement at Donimalai, it said.
