Kirtilals, diamond jewellery retail chain, is opening its first showroom and the tenth in the country here on Wednesday, according to Mr Kishore G. Paramasivan, Chief Operating Officer. Telugu film actress Samantha will open the showroom in the vicinity of Sampat Vinayaka Temple at 2.30 p.m.

He told presspersons here on Tuesday that the group, founded by Shri Kirtilal Kalida Mehta at Coimbatore in 1939, had grown into the one of major jewellers in the country and spread to eight cities in the country. Visakhapatnam would be the ninth. “Kirtilals group has set up two showrooms in Coimbatore, and one apiece in Chennai, Madurai, Kochi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Ludhiana. We have many customers in the Vizag region and we are sure our showroom will be a success story here too. Throughout Andhra Pradesh, we have a strong, loyal customer base,” he said.

He said the company had obtained ISO 9001:2000 certification both for its retail and production units. The company had clients across the globe in 56 countries, he said and added that over the next three years 16 more showrooms would be added in the country.

Mr Madhusudan, Vizag store manager, said Kirtilals had manufactured the diamond crown of Lord Sri Venkateswara at Tirupati and “we have also received an order for making a 60-kg gold saree for Goddess Mavulamma at Bhimavaram in West Godavari. The temple trustees will give us the advance amount on Wednesday here on the occasion of opening our showroom.”
