LifeCodexx AG, a player in the pre-natal diagnostics space in Europe, has partnered with healthcare provider LifeCell to bring pre-natal DNA test to India.
The service will be available from November this year at LifeCell’s BabyShield brand in Chennai.
The test detects the presence of Down syndrome from maternal blood. According to a press release, the technology is cost-efficient and takes lesser time as it doesn't rely on expensive and lengthy sequencing methodology.
Mayur Abhaya, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, LifeCell, said in the press release that the technology would lower parental anxiety, as they would be able to make better informed decisions with access to reliable and affordable test results, with no risk to the foetus.
