Lohia Auto Industries is planning to set up a greenfield plant in South India for manufacture of two and three-wheelers, including electric vehicles.

The company, which is part of ₹700-crore Lohia Global with several business divisions, and a manufacturing base at Kashipur in Uttarakhand, is eyeing the Southern market. Ayush Lohia, Chief Executive Officer, told BusinessLine that, “The company has presence in North and North Eastern part of the country and is now looking to consolidate its foothold in southern and western parts of the country.

“This we expect to do by not only expanding our network of dealers but also setting up of a new plant.”

“The greenfield plant will entail an investment outlay of ₹100 crore. We are yet to finalise the location of the plant.

“Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra are top on our priority.

“All these States are also seeking to provide a big impetus to the electric vehicle movement, which fits well with our business plans,” he said.
