Lohia Auto Industries will enter the southern market with the launch of its e-scooters, e-rickshaws and diesel three wheelers in the next couple of months.
Part of the Rs 600-crore Lohia conglomerate, the company wants to set up its zonal office in Hyderabad and meet the future demands of the market from the South and West, according to Ayush Lohia, CEO.
The company has established a manufacturing capacity to produce one lakh units of two and three wheelers range at Kashipur, Uttarakhand. However, the capacity utilisation is just over 10 per cent, he told newspersons today.
Its product range includes four in e-scooters category, Humrahi the 3-wheeler and Humsafar the diesel/CNG variant. The company sees big potential in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. "We want to open 20 dealerships in AP and Telangana State in the first year of launch and subsequently push it up to 50", he added.
Ayush Lohia felt the market will pick up with the Government subsidy, people’s increasing preference for `Green and clean’ technologies and the infrastructure like battery charging and price competitiveness becoming better for these vehicles.
The company was in talks with leading financial institutions for retail loans. Giving an idea of the growth in the market, he said in the last 8-10 years a total of 2.5 lakh e-scooters have been sold in the country. In the last year, the figure was 35,000.
